New Mexico Department of Health Diabetes Prevention and Control Program

Program Organization, Structure and Funding  

The Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DPCP) resides in the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Bureau within the Public Health Division in the New Mexico Department of Health.

DPCP’s staff of ten includes a program manager, health educator supervisor, epidemiologist, evaluator, three health educators, two nurse consultants and an administrative assistant. Select CONTACT on the website menu for a list of staff names and contact information. 

DPCP is supported by three sources of funding: 1) State of New Mexico general funds; 2) State of New Mexico tobacco settlement funds; and 3) Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funds.

Program Description

DPCP is dedicated to reducing the burden of diabetes in New Mexico by 1) preventing diabetes; 2) preventing complications and disabilities associated with diabetes; and 3) eliminating diabetes-related health disparities. DPCP works with a variety of health system, organizational and community partners throughout the state to accomplish these goals.
